Infrared Heaters Will Help You Save on Your Energy Bill

One of the things infrared heaters will do for you is to lower your energy bill so you don’t get sticker shock when you open your bill every month.

If you’re anything like me, when winter rolls around, you have a tendency to push up the thermostat setting, just so you feel warm enough to combat the chill that comes with the coldest months.

The only problem, though, is that sends the heating bill through the roof!

Central Heating is Inefficient

The issue is that using the central heating system to feel comfortable is just terribly inefficient.  The central heating system, being one of the wonders of modern living, heats the whole house, when all you really need is to heat the space where you are.

The answer to this is – just heat the area where you are and forget about the rest of the house!

Infrared Heaters Are Effective at Keeping You Warm

One of the most effective ways of doing this is with an infrared heater.  While there are many types of space heaters available, the infrared heater, or radiant heater, is one of the most efficient, with the cost savings to prove it.

The Difference Between Infrared Heaters and Space Heaters

Space heaters are designed to heat the air in a room.  While the people in the room will eventually benefit from that heat, it will take quite a while for the air in the room to get to a comfortable temperature.

Radiant heaters, on the other hand, emit warmth instantly, and are designed to warm objects, not air.  Since humans can be counted in the category of objects, at least as far as infrared heaters are concerned, you will feel warm as soon as the heater is turned on.

I think you can see why this would be very energy efficient.  The radiant heater is warming the object that is you, so you feel more comfortable far sooner than you would with the heated air method.  Additionally, you have saved on your energy bill by not heating the entire house just so you could feel warm.

For a more in-depth discussion of the differences between infrared and space heaters, see my article, Infrared Heaters Are Better Than Ordinary Space Heaters.

Dry Air Doesn’t Have to Be Part of Winter

Another benefit to the infrared heater is that the humidity in the room stays constant.  I’m sure you’re familiar with how dry the air can get in the winter.  Space heaters, with the need to force the air to circulate constantly to create a comfortable temperature, dry the air even more.  Infrared heaters generate heat using radiant energy, without the need to move air to warm people in a room.  As a result, the humidity level stays constant and helps to maintain the comfort level.

Radiant Heat Even Works Outdoors

One of the major benefits of radiant heat is that it can be used outdoors as well as in.  I’m sure you’ve sat on the patio of a restaurant which used large heaters.  They were infrared heaters, spreading their warmth to everyone in their path.  Imagine trying to do that with an air-heating space heater.  It would be impossible.

If you have a patio which you only use for a few months out of the year, you could extend that season by at least a few weeks in the Spring and Fall with the use of a radiant heater.  Imagine how awesome it would be to be able to host the first, or last, barbecue of the season on your warm patio.

This should give you a few ideas about how you could use an infrared heater.  Check out my iHeater Review page for more information about the iHeater infrared heater.

    Hello Mitch:

I totally agree with your assessment of central heating systems. Portable infrared heaters are definitely the way to go when you are trying to save on energy costs. These heaters have gained a lot of acceptance and popularity around the world and are considered to be the perfect choice of most people. Of all the different reasons behind this the one that outshines all others is the cost effectiveness. By spending a little on the unit you will then save many more times that on energy.

I look forward to your next post.
