Infrared Heaters Come in a Variety of Designs
Whether it’s deep winter where you live or you’re just starting to think about preparing for the coming winter, it’s probably time to consider how you will heat your home.
Infrared Heaters Will Heat Objects
One of the many methods of heating is with electric infrared heaters. When you choose to make use of this type of heater, you will find that they transfer heat to objects directly. This makes them quite different from other styles which provide heat by warming the air.
Infrared Heaters Come In Different Designs
Many different designs of infrared heaters are available and they offer a number of features to choose from. By knowing what types can be purchased, you can choose a heater that meets your needs and ensures you are kept warm even on the coldest of days.
Metal Sheath Heaters
Metal sheath infrared heaters are designed for use under rugged conditions and work great for low space heating needs. The heating element in this type of device will be covered by another material such as copper, brass, iron or aluminum. If you have an electric oven in your home, you can see what a metal sheath heater of this type will do during operation. These heaters may be found in warehouses, maintenance areas and machine shops, among other places. Not only are they very safe, they tend to last for long periods of time as they are very durable.
Quartz Heaters
Quartz infrared heaters have an electric filament enclosed in a quartz bulb or tube. This filament gradually heats up and, when the correct temperature is reached, infrared radiation will be emitted which heats objects without increasing the temperature of the air. Many prefer this type as they respond quickly when turned on. The heat from this style of heater is multi-directional and uniform while also being gentle and even. This makes the quartz style of heater appropriate for use in a home or office. Many food processing and chemical processing plants also choose heaters of this type.
Ceramic Heaters Are The Most Efficient
Ceramic infrared heaters are the most efficient of the various types. High amounts of radiation is emitted when this type of heater is used. In order to produce this heat, electricity moves through ceramic plates and the heat is then evenly distributed by fans which are installed in front of these plates. All are enclosed within the casing of the heater for safety reasons. Heat is produced slowly with this type of heater and all come with a thermostat to ensure overheating is not a problem.
It’s best to consider all types in your search for the perfect heater, as each type has its advantages and disadvantages.
