How Will An Infrared Heater Help You?

How Will An Infrared Heater Help You?

You’ll find a lot written about infrared heaters, especially during the colder months.  Because, let’s face it, that’s when you want to keep warm and that’s when you start looking for the best way to warm your living space.

Infrared Heater Features

One of the really great features of an infrared heater is that it heats you and the other objects in your vicinity, not the air around you.  When you really think about it, that’s what you want from your heat source.  It’s very wasteful to heat everything when what you really want is to keep your body warm.

Another of the features of an infrared heater is the fact that it will save you money on your heating bill.  However, it’s not going to automatically do this unless you do one thing: lower your thermostat setting.

Thermostat Adjustments

If you live in a home with one thermostat, it’s going to be situated in a centrally located room.  That room may or may not be the one where you spend the most time sitting around, needing the most warmth.  So it makes sense to put the infrared heater in the living room for your comfort and lower the thermostat setting.

If your home has zone heating, it makes even more sense to use infrared heaters.

Your central heating system is going all out to keep each zone at the temperature for which it is set.  So you keep the bedrooms cool during the day while everyone is at work or school, but warmer during the night.

But what if you could keep that zone cool all the time and just use infrared heaters as the need arose.  That means when your daughter comes home from school and wants to hang out in her room with her friends the space heater is there to keep them warm without having to keep all of the other bedrooms warm.  That has got to make a difference in your heating bill.  An added perk is giving your daughter control over her environment, which is not a bad side benefit.

Heating a Workshop

If you’re like a lot of people I know you may have a workshop where you putter around.  This may be situated in a basement or detached building, such as a garage, which are notoriously difficult to heat.  It’s extremely wasteful to heat a part of the house, such as the basement area, when ninety percent of the time no one is there.  You may have thought, up until now, that you really didn’t spend a lot of time in that area, so why bother even trying to heat it.  It’s easy enough to wear a jacket to keep most of your body warm, but hands are a different issue.  As a result, you put up with cold hands or tried to use gloves to keep warm.

This is the perfect situation for an infrared heater.  It can be programmed to begin heating the work surfaces you will be touching even before you get there.  The tools you touch will no longer be ice cold.  You’ll have better control of everything you touch because your hands will be warm, along with the rest of your body.

I hope I’ve given you some good ideas for how you can utilize an infrared heater in your home.   The potential is there to save you money and even to expand your living area.  The possibilities are endless.
